Upcoming Green Cars 2017-2018

With the prices of gasoline constantly fluctuating, fuel economy continues to be a priority for car shoppers. Gas prices may now be lower than ever, but the vehicle emissions still impact negatively on the environment. Green technology strives to lessen the impact of human beings on the environment. Green cars are vehicles that produce less harmful emissions to the environment as compared to their gasoline or diesel counterparts. They include electric cars, such as hybrid, plug-in or battery electric cars, natural gas vehicles, and clean diesel vehicles. The use of environment-friendly vehicles has been on an upward curve, and manufacturers are bringing out better green models, with a focus on low-emission petrol and diesel vehicles, and plug-in hybrids.

If you are anxious about fuel economy and love and care about the environment, you can look to the future with optimism as it promises to bring better green vehicles. Here are but a few examples of green vehicles to look forward to.

2017 Chrysler Town & Country Plug-In Hybrid

The 2017 Chrysler Town & Country Plug-In Hybrid is the next generation of the Chrysler Town &Country minivan that started it all. It will be offered with a regular V-6 engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The massive V-6 engine tends to drink up fuel. Thus, the advanced plug-in variant will be a real lifesaver and make the minivan pocket-friendly. A quick charge during downtime will ensure the gas bills are minimized.

BMW i5

BMW is famous for its driving experience and has already carved a niche in the green vehicles market. It has two green models: the i3 which is fully electric and uses the gasoline engine only to recharge the batteries and the i8 which couples a three-cylinder gas engine with some electric motors. The BMW i5 is an upcoming subcompact sports sedan with more passenger space and the ability to use electric power for extended ranges.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

The Bolt can easily be confused with its cousin, the current Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. However, the Bolt has no gas engine at all, thus making it much smaller, and all electric. It will offer a 200-mile electric drive range, more than doubling the range of most of today’s EVs. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is slightly smaller than a Prius and will use advanced lightweight technology to achieve its range target.

Tesla Model 3

Touted as the most affordable sports sedan, the Tesla Model 3 is an eco-friendly gift to the motoring masses. Model 3 has a 215-mile electric cruising range per charge and starts at only $35000 before incentives. Details are scarce since the car is still a work in progress, but it promises to be quite a stunner.
